Ginkgo biloba ‘Thelma’ syn. ‘Thelma Broom’ is probably male, It may have originated from Gee Farms 14928 Bunkerhill Road, Stockbridge, Michigan 49285 in The United States of America. However, this supposition has not been substantiated. Gee Farms has an extensive collection of Conifers, as well as an arboretum open to the public.

 

Description - Ginkgo biloba ‘Thelma’ syn. ‘Thelma Broom’ is an interesting cultivar. The foliage is quite variable, generally tubular but often needle shaped, however it can also produce some leaves that would be typical of the species.  It is slow growing some shoots only producing 5 cm, the majority about 15 cm of annual growth. Expect it to reach a height of 1.5 m with a similar spread in 10 year and eventually anything more than 3m. In the autumn the leaves turn to golden yellow.
