(Known in China as ‘Xiaye Ginkgo’) Ginkgo biloba 'Saratoga' is a familiar male form. It was selected at, and originated from the Saratoga Horticultural Foundation, Saratoga, California in the U.S.A. and was introduced into the trade in 1975.

 

Description – This cultivar is mainly grown for the interesting yellow – green narrow bilobed leaves which hang down significantly. The plant has  Overall the plant has a dense compact habit with ascending branches, it usually maintains a central leader. The rate of growth is 30 cm. Whilst Ginkgo biloba 'Saratoga' is fairly slow growing, it will attain a height of 3 m and a spread of 2m in 10 to 15 years. It is suggested that it could eventually reach a height of 12 m with a spread of 9 m. In most years it exhibits very good autumn colour.
