Ginkgo biloba 'Lover' Very little is known about this recently introduced cultivar. It is suggested that this cultivar is of Dutch origin and may have originated from Edwin Smits Tree Nursery Meerkensweg 8, Volkel, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands 5408 PB, but this cannot be substantiated.
Description – It produces foliage which is reminiscent of Ginkgo biloba Snow Cloud’, except that the leaves are larger, 5 cm across, typical of the species and less prone to scorching. When the leaves emerge, they are cream coloured at the margins become greener as they age. The growth rate varies between 10 cm and 20 cm a year. A plant is expected to reach a height and spread of 1.5 m in 10 years.
However, it must be said that we have noted some changes in the plant we have in The National Collection of Ginkgo biloba and Cultivars, with less variegation as it it ages.
