Ginkgo biloba 'Horizontalis Nana' is believed to have originated in the U.S.A. and was introduced by the Bucholz Nursery in 1957. It is smaller than 'Horizontalis' which is a female form and came from France. it is truely dwarf in its nature and may reach only a height of 1.5 m and 2 -2.5 m spread in 10 - 15 years. It produces good autumn colour. A good tree for the small garden and despite its eventual size 'Horizontalis Nana' can also be grown in a container to good effect, which will slow down its development and reduce its evential size by fifty percent.
