This cultivar originated as a mutation, a ‘broom’ on a plant and was discovered by Bill Barger, from Wadsworth, Ohio, in the United States of America and named ‘Buddy’ after a friend of Bill.

 

Description - Ginkgo biloba 'Bill Barger Buddy' is a male, it has distinctive fat buds and compact growth. It puts on 15cm - 20cm of growth annually and it is expected to grow 1m - 2 m in 10 years. Reports state that it has also particularly good autumn colour.
