Ginkgo biloba 'Alberta' is an excellent columnar male selection that would make a great addition to any garden. It originated as a chance seedling originating from New York state and registered and named by The State Botanical Garden of Georgia 2450 S. Milledge Avenue, Athens, Georgia. U.S.A. in 1996. The parent tree grew approximately 30cm a year reaching 12m in a 40 plus year span.

 

Ginkgo biloba ‘Alberta’ is an upright narrow male selection, it will grow upright and become 1.5m -1.8m high with a spread of 1.2m in approximately 10 years and is more conical than the species. It is certainly capable of reaching a height of 5m in about 20 years. The autumn colour is said to be a bright neon yellow.
